Camp Pendleton Recycles Personal E-waste for Base Residents!

For your convenience, personal E-waste can be taken to the recycling centers located in the 13 Area and the 52 Area. Official government equipment should continue to be taken to DRMO, Bldg. 2241. *Military Housing residents are first encouraged to utilize annual Base E-waste collection events and through their Housing/PPV office.

What is E-waste? E-waste includes the following:

  • Computer monitors, Computer software disks, Computers/CPUs, Laptop computers
  • Cell phones, PDAs, pagers
  • Photocopiers, Printers/scanners/fax machines
  • Stereos/radios/MP3 players or iPods
  • Telephones/answering machines
  • Televisions (including plasma and LCD), VCRs/DVD players
  • Video game consoles

Why should I care?
It is illegal and environmentally harmful to discard or dispose of certain electronic items in the trash and/or abandon at non-certified collection points.

Certain materials, particularly metals in electronic devices can be salvaged and recycled, and proper handling of e-waste ensures that no harmful materials such as Lead or Mercury have the potential to degrade our environment if not properly disposed of or recycled.
Due to base and state environmental laws and regulations, our trash collection system is unable to accept any of the above items.
What do I do with my E-waste?

Two convenient locations have been set-up by our Base Recycling Manager. Please take your E-waste items to either of the Base Recycling Centers located at Bldg 13193 or Bldg 520189. Hours of operation are: 0900 – 1400, Monday through Thursday, closed Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

THIS IS A FREE SERVICE! All you need to do is bring it in. Just bring something that shows your valid Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton residential address and phone number and fill out the "Electronic Waste Collection Log". That's it!

If you live off base, the City of Oceanside (maybe a fee required depending upon the type of E-waste item) and all major electronics retailers (Best Buy, Circuit City, etc.) have E-waste turn-in programs. If you live off-base, please contact your waste hauler (Waste Management, etc.) or your local electronics retailer for turn-in program details.
Remember, the environment belongs to YOU, so please help by doing your part to take care of it. Recycle your E-waste today! For more info, please contact:
